Actor auditions and who we chose

Actor auditions – why we chose the people for the roles

The people we chose for our actors in the roles were Oliver Anderson and Jack Redman.

The reason we chose Oliver was because we thought that he was the more serious person for the role. The character he is going to play is the main character or the victim. We decided that this would be the better role for him because he is a confident individual and manages to keep role even when distracted. We also felt that because Oliver is about the same height as Jack, this will mean that the killer (Jack) will look more realistically able to overpower Oliver than someone else, bigger than him that auditioned. We also believed that because Oliver is in our group, he would be more likely to know how the role will need to be played and he will also be more able to understand the script and the ideas we have to get the filming done quickly and efficiently.

Jack was assigned the role of the killer. We decided he would be suited to this role because he played a killer in a previous role in a trailer he made for a film in one of his lessons. Most wouldn’t see this as a good enough reason for him to play such a serious role but we figured given his personality, he will be more likely to play about with the role, even though he may not take it as seriously as most, he will be able to work with it more and make it come across as more psychotic than other people we could’ve chosen. Another reason we chose Jack to act was because we thought that because he is also in our group, he has been with us since the start, even when developing the plot; this means he will be more aware as to what we are looking for in the move and how we are looking for the role to turn out. Furthermore, he also knows the story line and how we are planning to shoot each shot so will be more able to figure out how to make his character fit in with the role.

In overall conclusion, even though some of the people we interviewed had better qualifications, we felt the two individuals we chose (Jack and Oliver) would be more likely to know the role and what we need from them because they are both in our group and therefore know more than the other people that auditioned for the role. We thought this would be important to choose people that are more in connection with the group and know what they’re doing.
