What is a production company and it's role?
A production company's main role is to help create a film by giving financial support, helping with scheduling, scripting, casting,and more. They help see the film through, from an idea to a final piece.
The production company however are also in control of anything that goes wrong, like property being damaged or actors being hurt.
What is an ident?

An ident is a logo that is shown before a film or TV show has started. By having it shown at the start of the film or TV show it informs the audience who the production company is and who aided in the creation of the film. This also helps to promote themselves and enhance their importance, being the first thing shown.
What makes an effective production company indent?
In order for the ident to be effective it would need to link with the genres of films they typically produce. They'd also need to take into consideration the age range in which the films are aimedoing the. This would help with deciding the colours used, the font, the location, time and main piece. If the film's are typically created for a younger audience, the ident would be expected to have more brighter and eye catching colours than a films created for 18+.
For an example I am looking at the Walt Disney ident. A castle has been used to link with the types of films it produces, fantasty and animation. Walt Disney make films aimed for younger kids and so has shown that in their idents. Using the castle suggests princes and princesses; the font being done in bubble writing also suggests a childish aspect to it.

My chosen production company is Warner Bros. Studios. This company specialises in the genre thriller, having done movies like Harry Potter and Dark knight. Warner Bros. studio is based in the USA and UK with it's sucessful Harry Potter studios in London too.
